F*&K You, Man.
As I write this post, exteriorly everything is lovely… this view. Yes.
BUT.
Do you ever find your self here? Hands thrown up, that one curly piece of hair falling into your eyes, bated breath exhaled dramatically, body temperature – UP.
THE Man.
Ruining all the things we hold near and dear, the creative, the passionate, the inspiriting and giving us pushback to settle in, keep our heads down and what ever we do – don’t. rock. the. boat.
Solid, huh?! No.
I believe in positive psychology practices to my core. I believe in practicing the means of a joy filled life – to. my. core. In actuality, this often goes against the grain of societal standards, of capitalism, hedonism and narcissism (this is general I know – I am being intentionally general) – I think with a certain level of detachment – all things can be enjoyed in moderation and with respect for the individual quality of each experience.
This belief system I hold so dear – goes directly against the “Man” mentality. It’s based on positive intention, free thinking and self confidence in making choices.
You can throw your hands up You can beat the clock (yeah) You can move a mountain You can break rocks You can be a master
Don't wait for luck Dedicate yourself and you gon' find yourself
Be students Be teachers Be politicians Be preachers (Yeah)
Be believers Be leaders Be astronauts Be champions Be truth seekers
Today, I challenge you to stand up a-la Dead Poet Society and have a look around for some new perspective. Every single day you have a choice, your choices lead you through your life and you are in charge of that path.
I challenge you to stand up to the man, he’s everywhere, in all things but contrary to what Dewey Finn has to say in that great clip –
DO NOT GIVE UP.
I fear the complacency of the world, for apathy is a silent killer – worse than heart disease – essentially it IS heart disease – yet there are no informative ad campaigns running mass produced warnings – it’s a quiet non – decisive acceptance that leads from one day to the next – months upon months, turning into years upon years.
I had a conversation a few days ago with my daughter, uber bright, motivated, a dedicated dancer – lovely all around person to be around & she gave me some feedback that lifted my spirits and fed my soul. We spoke about choosing to live a life of intention. We were discussing the tools to effectively do this, first and foremost being CHOICE.
Every single day, you have the ability to choose your direction. Every single day you have the ability to start a new. Every single day you have the supreme countenance to forge your own path!
I want to finish with this clip – it’s a classic no doubt & I certainly didn’t appreciate it originally when it first came out – I was young and not yet knocked up by life buuuut now, now it’s worth a second look.
‘The Things We Think and Do Not Say: The Future of Our Business.’…Everybody got a copy…I was 35. I had started my life.
