NEWS: SUNFEST COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2015 BENEFACTOR PROGRAM

Cowichan Valley B.C.: Sunfest Country Music Festival announces their cumulative ten year donation of $500,000 to various charities, schools and non-profits in the Cowichan Valley and greater Vancouver Island. The music festival continues its legacy in 2015 by highlighting key benefactors and additional improvements to the agricultural development of the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds.

Giving back to the community is part of Sunfest’s mandate, and continues to be a strong gauge of the success of annual event. In one decade the festival has raised over $500,000, benefiting vital organizations in the community including long-standing donations to: the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, MS Society, Canadian Diabetes Association, Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Rotary Club of Duncan, Duncan Chamber of Commerce and nearly twenty elementary, middle and high schools in the area. The festivals legacy of community alliance supports nearly 40 charities, non-profits, schools, community partners and causes.

New benefactors for 2015 include:

Tanelle’s Journey – Fundraiser, Cowichan Secondary School Dry Grad, Ecole Cobble Hill, Bench Elementary, Cowichan Valley Minor Hockey Bantam C3, Cowichan District Hospital Emergency Department, Belmont Secondary School, Claremont Secondary Lacrosse Team, Rotary Club of Duncan, Duncan Chamber of Commerce – Black Tie Awards.

The Cowichan Exhibition Grounds, who host Sunfest, receive annual monetary donations totaling more than $100,000 over the past five years. Sunfest believes strongly in making lasting agricultural improvements to the grounds, field and facilities. Improving the agriculture land capability of the Exhibition land is a primary environmental initiative and lasting legacy of the festival.
